Job Description

The suitable candidate will be a career minded professional engineer with aspirations of developing their career in program management. The candidate will have some background in transit/rail, project management, and engineering design in a related discipline.

The principal project manager role is multi-faceted, with the primary aim to support effective delivery and management of major programs. Some of the key responsibilities of the position would include:

  • Assist in preparing documents necessary to administer the contract; including proposals, work orders, and other contract instruments.
  • Gain knowledge of and effectively use Mott MacDonald management systems, tracking documents, and related procedures.
  • Attend meetings with the client and with subconsultants.
  • Assist in managing personnel working within the team.
  • Review payment requests.
  • Prepare reports as required.
  • Document in-progress activities and track deliverables associated with the contract as directed.
In addition, as part of the individual's professional role with Mott MacDonald, the position would entail the following:
  • Work to engage our customers, and undertake business development activities
  • Become adept at Mott MacDonald programs including risk management systems, project management systems, project controls systems, bidding systems
  • Work in correlation with teams regarding proposal development in various geographical markets of the company
  • Use professional engineering skills to lead portions of the technical work, in a way that is advantageous for both the company and the professional

Candidate Specification

To be considered for this position you must be eligible to work through the DoDSkillBridge program. We welcome candidates with the below qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Strong project management, leadership, interpersonal, communication, documentation, and technical skills are required.
  • Possess sound judgment; highly developed management, organizational, interpersonal, presentation/training, oral and written communication skills; excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and work with multi-disciplinary teams, deal with complex issues, and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to prepare and interpret complex reports, recognize problems, and define and evaluate solutions.
