Overview

Offering a $5,000 hiring incentive for full time licensed Social Workers who are bilingual in English and Spanish.

The Social Worker II in the Therapeutic Foster Care is primarily responsible for serving in a clinical capacity by providing clinical interventions with children and the Kennedy Krieger foster parents. This staff member utilizes information gained through assessments, interdisciplinary evaluation services to develop and implement the child's treatment plan while providing crisis intervention training as a member of the treatment team. This position requires the incumbent to be bilingual in English and Spanish with a proficiency level that meets the Institutes minimum standards.

Responsibilities
    Complete assessments for children in a timely manner.
  1. Attends interdisciplinary staffing to discuss and integrate evaluation information and to develop a comprehensive treatment plan to address psychological, medical, developmental and social needs of the child.
  2. Provides weekly child and family meetings providing clinical interventions which address the needs of the child and family.
  3. Develop and implement specific behavior interventions and monitoring of progress based on needs and strengths of the child while monitoring progress.
  4. Provide quarterly written report including assessment, treatment plan goals, treatment interventions, and progress in completion of goals.
  5. Collaborates with LIRS Case Manager and Therapist in the development, implementation and monitoring of the child's treatment plan.
  6. Collaborates with the LIRS school program in meeting the child's educational needs.
  7. Participates in peer consultation groups and/or individual supervision clinical review work.
  8. Attends in-service clinical training programs, treatment planning meetings, and administrative meetings.
  9. Performs home studies and re-approvals which includes making recommendations regarding approval/disapproval of applicants.
  10. May participate in the field instruction program and oversee the work of social work trainees when interest and capacity is demonstrated. May also participate in community advocacy/ educational groups related to the needs of foster care children and their families.
  11. Develops and conducts training and support groups for foster parents.
  12. Participates in a 24-hour on-call rotation with other Therapeutic Foster Care staff members. Provides effective and responsive care to foster parents.
  13. Will participate in activities related to the Office of Refugee Resettlement, LIRS, and departmental or interdisciplinary training.
  14. Will participate in departmental research, committee projects, and/or program development and management.
Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • Master's degree from an accredited School of Social Work is required.
  • Must be licensed in the State of Maryland, by the Board of Social Work Examiners, Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW).

EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have experience related to providing services to children in the child welfare population with developmental and emotional disturbance is preferred.
