• $.25 per hour per ASE Certification
• $2.25 per hour additional for ASE Master Tech

About the Diesel Mechanic Position

This First Transit location is in Arlington, Virginia where we operate local bus service as well as provide maintenance needs of buses and other equipment operated by Arlington Transit.

• Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers by performing limited repairs with moderate supervision on basic and advanced maintenance.
• Remove and replace engine, transmission, and differential assemblies
• Maintain records of all maintenance work completed on vehicles including parts and supplies used. Ensure that work orders are completed properly and accurately.
• Repair and maintain all shop equipment
• Assist with road calls and emergency services as necessary
• Diagnoses and performs accurately all phases of vehicle and equipment repair

Diesel Mechanic Qualifications

• A vocational or technical degree in vehicle maintenance is preferred.
• Valid CDL driver's license required at the time of hire
• At least 1 - 3 years of automotive or diesel repair employment experience or a combination of education & experience.
• Must have appropriate mechanic's toolset.
• ASE certifications are preferred. Must participate in company ASE certification program (company training, testing, and bonuses provided!).
• Strong experience with computers, web-based applications, and computerized diagnostics
• Be subject to a drug test
