Primary Responsibilities

HDR is currently in need of a Mid-Level Bridge Engineer to work as a member of our Transportation Business Group to work in our Mid-Atlantic Offices. Primary locations include Glen Allen, Virginia Beach, Roanoke and Vienna Virginia.

In the role of Bridge Engineer, we'll count on you to:

*Apply structural engineering and detailing techniques
*Work on projects that typically include bridge (steel plate girder, prestress concrete, segmental and cable) box culvert, and interchange design for highway and railway projects
*Select standard bridge engineering/design procedures, develop structural details using specialized structural design and analysis software, and perform structural load calculations and assist with geometric layout and quantity development
*Review, assign work and/or check design calculations, estimates, and specifications produced by junior engineers and EITs
*Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

*Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or bridge engineering related field required.

*PE required.

*5+ years bridge/structural design experience required.

*Must have proven hands on experience in all aspects of bridge design projects.

*Proficiency with bridge analysis & design software programs required.

*Microsoft Office software and Microstation desired.

*Experience using structural analysis programs bridge design software load rating and bridge rehabilitation is a must.

*Demonstrated leadership skills communication skills and ability to work with various teams required.

*Strong communication skills and willing to work in a team environment.

*An attitude and commitment to be an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.

Preferred Qualifications

*MSCE in Structural Engineering preferred.

*Experience with local owners like VDOT, DDOT, MDSHA, MDTA or local municipalities is strongly preferred.

*Preference given to local candidates.
