Understanding the impact of existing tax laws is hard enough, and new legislation, judicial decisions and administrative authority compound the challenges. Professionals in RSM's Washington National Tax (WNT) office advise clients and RSM client engagement teams with respect to complex issues across a wide range of tax specialty practice areas. WNT is seeking a professional to join its Tax Controversy/ Practice and Procedure team.

We are looking for a professional who will assist team members with Internal Revenue Service Entity Unit issues. Such assistance includes updates to the clients' entity status, name changes and EIN retention. The job will also involve interest and penalty calculations on the tax due to the IRS or calculation of interest due on overpayment of tax and candidates should have experience in these areas. You will also work with other tax professionals on the team and assist with a variety of tax controversy, tax practice and procedure issues.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Assist experienced professionals with IRS Entity Unit issues;
  • Possess knowledge and be able to do interest or penalty calculations on the tax due.
  • Assist RSM clients to identify and resolve various tax account issues (missed election issues, miss applied payments, incorrect entity classification elections, etc.).
  • Managing and responding to IRS Notices.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have experience with DMI software
  • Minimum 5 years of experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • EA or CPA strongly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in tax or applicable work experience
  • 5 + years of experience at the IRS
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Compensation Range: $82,400 - $167,900 |
