Who You Are

We are looking for a Portfolio Manager who is a curious and thoughtful leader who is passionate about investments, enjoys building custom portfolios, demonstrates adaptability and resilience during market volatility, and communicates effectively when interacting with clients and colleagues. You will report to the Managing Director.

What You'll Do

  • Complement current investment team's expertise to serve clients, diligence fund managers, and support evolution of portfolio management function.
  • Apply our investment strategy to client accounts, monitor economic data and trends, and provide regular reports on both individual portfolio performance and firm-wide investment results.
  • Co-lead Investment Committee; analyze and present new/innovative investment opportunities to CIO and Investment Committee for consideration.
  • Perform periodic manager and investment reviews; read and distil quarterly investor letters, attend investor meetings and meet directly with managers; summarize updates/performance to advisors and craft client investment narratives.
  • Partner with wealth advisors to articulate investment strategy to prospects and clients.
  • Work with advisors on daily activities supporting and servicing clients.
  • Create value to team and clients by developing subject matter expertise in relevant sectors and monitoring broader market/economic trends that impact private markets.
  • Contribute to VWG brand awareness through networking events and participating in industry panel discussions.
  • Leverage current technology platforms and future tools, such as AI, to improve investment process and client experience.

What You'll Bring

  • Background in success with increasing levels of responsibility and an understanding of portfolio construction and investment management process.
  • Experience supervising others and interested in team leadership/supporting firm's strategic direction.
  • Able to articulate our investment approach and decisions, and financial market and economic views.
  • Experience seeking, digesting, synthesizing, and communicating complex information.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills: professional, mature, flexible, and personable.
  • Curious mind that seeks inspiration from variety of sources, both inside and outside the investment industry.
  • Proficiency in company related technology, i.e. Market data & analysis (FactSet), performance reporting and account analysis (BlackDiamond), Portfolio trading software (Tamarac), Mutual Fund/ETF data and analysis (MorningStar), Salesforce CRM.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance or related degree; Masters Degree or CFA Designation preferred
  • 3-5 years experience in financial/investment analysis field, exposure to Private Market Investments preferred

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. You will use standard office equipment such as computer, phones, copiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands: This is largely a sedentary role and may sit or use PC for long periods of time. Bending, reaching or stooping may be necessary for use of filing cabinets or other office cabinets or office machines.

Hours of Work: Standard hours of work are Monday through Friday during normal day business hours. However, together with the CIO, the portfolio manager holds the primary oversight and fiduciary responsibility for VWG client assets. This mandates that some personal plans and endeavors may be temporarily imposed upon and weekday and weekend commitments can be disrupted without notice. It is also expected that job duties and some reading and creative exploration relative to investing extend into some evening and weekend hours.

Travel: Occasional local travel may be required
