The Life Sciences sector at Microbac offers comprehensive microbiology, virology, chemistry, molecular biology and in vitro toxicology testing services for the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, healthcare, medical device, cosmetic and agrochemical industries. JOB SUMMARY

The Life Science Business Development Representative will play a fundamental role in achieving revenue growth objectives in the Life Sciences sector of Microbac by sourcing new sales opportunities through generating new leads and following up to close the sales. The Life Science Business Development Representative must demonstrate a good knowledge in the Life Sciences industries, excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, as well as demonstrate strong organizational and follow-up skills. This is a mid- to high level, outside sales position offering the opportunity to grow inside the company.

Essential Functions:

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the Life Science sector in the following areas:
    1. FDA Pharmaceuticals (release/stability testing, development/validation, etc.)
    2. FDA BioPharmaceuticals (disinfectant qualification, viral clearance, adventitious virus, analytical and microbiological support, etc.)
    3. EPA Antimicrobial Efficacy (disinfectants and sanitizers, etc.)
    4. EPA Chemical Analysis (disinfectants, agrochemcials, etc.)
    5. FDA Medical Devices
    6. FDA Cosmetics (microbiological and analytical support)
    7. Other applicable areas
  • Source new sales opportunities through outbound cold calls and emails. Perform outbound calls to inactive accounts and report pertinent information in Salesforce.com
  • Develop and execute effective sales strategies to acquire new clients and achieve sales targets
  • Understand client needs and align our solutions to meet their objectives
  • Track industry trends, competitor activities and market dynamics
  • Collaborate closely with Client Relationship team on creation of sales proposals
  • Research accounts, identify key players and generate interest
  • Partner with laboratory operations to ensure customer requests are met
  • Provide excellent Customer Experience (CX) when responding to customer inquiries
  • Schedule and attend client meetings and/or trade shows
  • Perform other duties as needed
  • This is a remote position with ongoing on-site trainings and meetings

Minimum Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with clients.
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory requirements and market trends in Life Science contract testing
  • Experience in business development for Life Science contract laboratories
  • Proven external sales experience
  • Understanding of laboratory testing business and services in Life Sciences
  • Strong phone presence and experience dialing dozens of calls per day
  • Experience working with Salesforce.com or similar CRM preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong listening and presentation skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively
  • Knowledge and familiarity of some of the following methods: AATCC, AOAC, ASTM, BP, EN, ISO, JIS, JP, NSF, OECD, PAS, PCPC, Ph. Eur., USP is a strong plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Business Administration or equivalent field
