Position Summary
Reporting to a Vice President, the Senior Designer will be responsible for the creation and completion of designs, drawings, and presentations needed for pursuits, projects, and final construction documents under direction from the project manager. The Senior Designer will be senior level, working towards the goal of becoming a licensed architect.

Essential Position Functions

GENERAL:

  • Ability to prepare for client meetings under supervision.
  • Develop ability to interface with clients and consultants.
  • Developing ability to clearly convey ideas in verbal, written, graphic, and presentation formats.
  • Developing knowledge of industry terminology, laws, standards, practices, principles, and regulations.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and compiles report content under supervision.
  • Ability to manage time and meet assignment/project deadlines.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

DESIGN:

  • Developing understanding of application of codes and standards.
  • Performs analysis of designs and studies.
  • Application of internal BIM Standards.
  • Developing knowledge of federal, state and local laws, ordinances, and codes that pertain to life safety, zoning, and building codes.
  • Developing an understanding of architectural means and methods.
  • Translates red-lined sketches into Revit/CADD drawings.
  • Ability to perform architectural assignments with moderate supervision.

Education

Bachelor of Architecture required. Master of Architecture preferred.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Four to six years architectural design experience.
  • Proficiency with 3D modeling programs in various computer software programs such as Revit, Enscape, AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Rhinoceros, Google Sketchup, V-Ray.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop good working relationship with colleagues.
  • Competency with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint a plus.
  • Competency with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign a plus.
  • Produces accurate work as part of coordination project team.
  • Understands construction time management and utilizes project management tools.
  • Keeps abreast of the latest trends and best practices in the field.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and extensive criminal background checks.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Other Skills

Requires a detail-oriented self-starter, who takes initiative, able to prioritize, and multi-task in busy environment. Works under close supervision and in a collaborative team environment. Ability to develop, maintain, and foster relationships at every level among the organization and with external customers, as well as lead and positively influence others.

Compensation
We are committed to offering competitive and equitable compensation. The hiring range for this position is generally between $Min - $Mid (or Max if needed), exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. This position is also eligible for a performance bonus. Final salaries will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, licenses, certifications, and/or experience. In addition to these factors - we believe in the importance of pay equity. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the general Hiring Range for the role. Hiring at the top of the range is reserved for exceptionally qualified candidates. We consider internal and external factors as a part of every final offer.
