Job Summary

The Department Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Developmental Services (MHSADS) is currently seeking an energetic and dynamic QMHP for the position of Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Vocational Specialist to provide assertive community treatment services to adults with serious mental illness (SMI), and/or co-occurring substance use disorders. The ACT Team serves individuals in scattered sites throughout Loudoun County and is responsible for responding with treatment interventions in non-clinic-based settings.

The ACT Vocational Specialist:

  • Provides assertive community treatment to individuals who frequently experience homelessness, incarceration and/or hospitalization and do so by meeting individuals outside of an office-based setting
  • Works to develop readiness with individuals who demonstrate ambivalence about employment and education by utilizing motivational interviewing skills
  • Conducts assessment, treatment planning, crisis intervention, care management and supportive counseling; and interagency consultation and coordination of treatment services.
  • Maintains all clinical records and documentation according to Federal, State and Agency policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates the ability to function as a member of a busy, mobile clinical transdisciplinary team utilizing advanced clinical skills
  • Transports individuals in a program vehicles.
  • Acts a bridge by creating relationships with businesses within Loudoun County to promote inclusion of those receiving assertive community treatment
  • Provides person-centered interventions for individuals receiving assertive community treatment by creating a career profile and meeting the person where they are at in their recovery
  • Assists with getting and/or maintaining social security benefits
Work schedule is flexible and will require day, evening, weekends, and holiday hours.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Psychology or a related field; two (2) years of related work experience preferably with previous experience as a vocational/employment specialist, ACT/PACT/ICT clinician, behavioral health therapist, case manager, service coordinator or multi-disciplinary team facilitator with adults; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) is required.


Preferred:
Previous experience with an ACT team and bilingual both preferred.

Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Employment is contingent upon successfully passing pre-employment background check to include fingerprinting, credit, NCIC, DMV and TB test. Must have a good driving record and a valid driver's license in Virginia or regional state of residence.
