The Fine and Performing Arts Department seeks a Graphic Design/Publications Teacher for the 2024-25 School Year.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Developing and maintaining a curriculum that aligns with Holton's Mission, Diversity statement, and Live Well, Learn Well Lead Well goals (LW3):
  • Monitor and maintain studio tools and materials.
  • Curate and plan the annual art show in the Spring trimester.
  • Organize and plan student admissions to statewide, county-wide, and cross-country curated competitions.
  • Curate student work displays across the school.
  • Oversee and design the school-wide yearbook.
  • Teaching graphic courses such as Graphic Design 1 and 2, and Graphic Design Publications.
  • Create a safe and trusted environment for students.
  • Design and develop publications specific to the Fine and Performing Arts Department, such as programs, pamphlets and posters.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will have demonstrated the following experience and abilities:
  • Successful teaching experience with the capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning, assessment, and classroom management practices.
  • Knowledge of curriculum, pedagogy, differentiation, and assessment with the ability to implement quality, inclusive teaching, and learning programs.
  • In-depth of knowledge Adobe Creative Suite, preferably with experience in teaching specialized courses such as Graphic Design.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, parents, staff, and colleagues.
  • Ability to plan and manage resources effectively to support teaching and learning.
  • Desire to pursue ongoing professional development, making the most of the opportunities both within and outside the school to improve teaching and to demonstrate to the girls the value of lifelong learning.
  • Demonstrate high levels of enthusiasm for teaching and learning, striving to engender a joy of learning in all students.
  • A passion for developing a deep understanding of Graphic Design concepts and student application of concepts learned.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with grade-level teachers on curriculum development and implementation of units, assessments, and assignments for team-taught courses.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree Required, Bachelors in Fine Arts Preferred or equivalent experience
  • Experience in Graphic Design and Publications.
  • Experience teaching Graphic design, preferably at an all-girls school.
  • Understanding and developing knowledge of competency-based teaching and learning.
