Job Overview

The General Maintenance Worker performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge in electrical work. Work involves a variety of the duties: replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors; troubleshoot problem areas and inspect for defective equipment; assist Journeyman Electricians with more complex tasks, i.e. motor control centers, generators, transformers; and perform routine tasks relevant to general maintenance work.


Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

  • Perform electrical work independently on equipment with less than 600 volts.
  • Utilize wiring diagrams to locate failures.
  • Identify root causes of various types of electrical failures.
  • Complete all work tasks timely, accurately and completely.
  • Coordinates with other personnel to properly identify and utilize the correct materials, parts assemblies, and requirements for a variety of job/task.
  • Generate and submit outage requests.
  • Respond timely to emergency site maintenance.
  • Perform on call and preventive maintenance duties.
  • Perform periodic inventories and prepare material requisitions for replacement items as required.
  • Operates customer and company motor vehicles and/or other equipment in a safe manner.
  • Performs various duties such as (but not limited to) file maintenance, workspace cleanup, maintain warehouse space and telephone answering as required.
  • Adheres to the established safety and personnel policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Performs duties in an overtime capacity when needed to meet performance expectations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:

  • High school graduate or equivalent GED.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in electrical service and maintenance performing similar work.
  • Familiarity with applicable electrical codes and standards.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of safety precautions, i.e. PPE, lockout/tagout
  • Ability to read electrical drawings, blueprints, engineering drawings and wiring diagrams.
  • Knowledge of hand and power tools.
  • Familiarity with basic mathematical functions as required.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the required intelligence community level clearance.
  • Ability to pass pre-hire background and drug screen.
  • Mature judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and team lift 75 pounds.
