Our rail systems team in Los Angeles, CA is looking for a professional with at least 15 years of traction power project experience. The Principal Project Manager will be responsible for project and design management in the Southern California area, and potentially across North America. The role will feature the following aspects:

Engineering aspects

  • Manage the technical delivery of traction power systems from concept through to final design and construction support of new build, life extensions, equipment replacement and strengthening
  • Lead the modelling of traction power systems to determine and verify system configurations for the proposed train operations
  • Oversee and lead the review of designer's and Contractor submittals for technical appropriateness, compliance with owner's requirements, constructability and maintainability
  • Provide expert assistance to contractors during the installation phase, to optimize installation methods and deliver high-quality solutions; and during the testing and commissioning phase to ensure progress to schedule and rigorous testing of traction electrification system

Managerial aspects

  • Provide technical leadership through excellence including motivating design teams to excel in technical delivery, on-time performance and development of positive client and contractor relationships
  • Demonstrate innovation, collaboration and decisive action. Particularly in terms of the relationships between owners, integrated design teams, and contractors
  • Provide timely, accurate, comprehensive and concise reporting including the detailed analysis and solutions to emerging managerial and technical problems
  • Provide expertise in the preparation and production of contract documentation for design-bid-build and alternative delivery projects including Design Build and CM/GC
  • Ensure a quality process is implemented throughout the design, manufacturing, installation, testing and commissioning project phases
  • Mentor, support, and motivate early career professionals seeking professional licensure and certifications

Candidate Specification :

We're looking for a Principal Project Manager - Traction Power to join our team to continue this progress and invite applications from candidates with:

  • A minimum of bachelor's degree in a relatable subject with a PE registration in the state of California preferred
  • At least 15 years of experience in traction electrification systems engineering including at least 5 years' experience in oversight
  • Completing work in a controlled environment to meet quality, budget, schedule and technical requirements


Salary Range: $155,000 - $188,000
