Senior Program Manager, Washington, DC

***This position requires an active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility or the ability to be considered. ***

Cherokee Preting is seeking qualified individuals to serve as a Senior Program Manager to support the Department of State Bureau of Counterterrorism Office of Crisis Response, Preparedness, and Special Coordination (CT/CRSC). This may include, but is not limited to, supporting initiatives such as national level counterterrorism exercises and events in support of the National Security Council (NSC) directed mission, International Security Events Group (ISEG) events, hostage affairs and WMD engagements, and other efforts. The Counterterrorism Preparedness Program (CTPP) activities include but are not limited to: policy development and implementation, development and execution of critical counterterrorism preparedness programs such as training exercises, working groups, forums and seminars, and assessing and developing "lessons learned" aimed at enhancing the Department's and U.S. government's ability to rapidly respond to terrorist related incidents overseas.

Senior Program Manager Responsibilities Include:

  • Perform professional duties related to the review and development of counterterrorism policies and will support exercise and operational activities to assess findings and corrective action plans and assist with preparation, presentation, and follow-up of meetings.
  • Conduct daily interaction with Department, embassy, and interagency personnel under general or minimum supervision, and will interact with senior staff, representatives of foreign governments, and the U.S. interagency.
  • Support a classified program and will comply with all security requirements and processes for handling classified information.
  • Support projects as a Task Lead
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Senior Program Manager Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of related experience with no less than five (5) years working with the Department of State or equivalent agency.
  • Master's degree or equivalent
  • Current TOP SECRET security clearance with SCI eligibility is required.
  • Understanding and application of Foreign Internal Defense and Counter-Terrorism.
  • Must be able to manage portfolios of geographically international/global tailored, focused requirements, Lead discussion groups, and design effective capacity-building solutions and courses of action.
  • Provide highly specialized expertise advisory and analysis to key decision makers.
  • Experience with diplomatic missions overseas is preferred.
  • Experience in crisis management and counterterrorism preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience working within the National Security Memorandum 4 (NSM-4), counterterrorism related Presidential Policy Directives and other interagency policy, and U.S. government interagency collective.
  • Knowledge and experience in working within the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE) technical field and its ongoing initiatives.
  • Ability to travel worldwide (about 10-20% of the time).
  • An in-depth knowledge of U.S. security and classification procedures is necessary.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
