Recruitment: The State Highway Administration is currently recruiting for a Shop Administrative Technician II position located in the District 2 Chestertown Shop. This is an Interview and Hire position that is open to anyone who meets the minimum qualifications listed below. This job announcement may be used for future vacancies throughout the State of Maryland. Nature of Work: This position provides inventory and storekeeping duties for a maintenance facility. This work involves assisting with the responsibilities for the procurement, proper receipt, storage, inventory and issuance of supplies, equipment, and materials. In addition, this position will provide administrative support to the office staff due to manpower or workload demands.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One (1) year of experience performing administrative support work and/or receiving, storing, and issuing supplies, materials and equipment in a storeroom, warehouse or other supply storage facility. May require the ability to type accurately at a speed of not less than twenty words per minute.

Preferred Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Candidates should have skills in operating a personal computer and its related software (Microsoft Word, etc.) to prepare documents and maintain information.
  • Candidates should be able to perform basic mathematical computations.
  • Candidates should be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in written format.
Licenses & Certifications

Possession of a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland with four (4) points or less is required.

Employees may be required to obtain SHA certification in maintenance shop storekeeping.

Additional Information

Special Requirements:

  • This is an essential position and employees must be available for 24-hour hour emergency call back with response time of less than one hour.
  • Employees will be required to maintain reliable communication for the purpose of emergency call back requirements.
  • Employees must pass the SHA Level I Small Procurement Training Certification during the six-month probationary period.
  • The probationary period will be six months with an extension possibility to one year due to the seasonal nature of job duties.
