About the Position

Dexis seeks an experienced Graphic Designer to support the Department of Labor (DOL) Office of Apprenticeship (OA) on the Expansion Support for Registered Apprenticeship (EESRA) services contract opportunity. The Graphic Designer will support visual communication through creative design solutions to ensure messages are effectively conveyed.

The work for this position is contingent upon award.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and illustrate concepts based on requirements by designing rough layouts using variety of design software applications of art, such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, PowerPoint, Microsoft Publisher, etc., and copy regarding arrangement, color, size, type size and style, and related aesthetics.
  • Develop illustrations, logos, and other designs using software or by hand.
  • Ensure documents are 508 compliant.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, including marketing, in the design concept phase through completion of a project.
  • Coordinate with outside agencies, art services, printers, etc. to complete projects.
  • Maintain technical knowledge of current graphic design standards and industry principles.
  • Amend designs after feedback and ensure final graphics and layouts are visually appealing and on-brand.
  • Assist in creating visual resources to be used by State Apprenticeship Agencies (SAAs) and other National Apprenticeship System (NAS) partners for strengthening Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) within individual Registered Apprenticeship (RA) programs and the Apprenticeship system.
  • Support the design of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) EEO campaigns and mitigation strategies that provide Technical Assistance (TA) to assist sponsors in complying with 29 CFR part 30 as needed in support of OA's DEIA priorities.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and/or supporting OA's campaigns efforts such as rapid response playbook, blog posts, informational notices, webinars, etc., to address barriers to EEO compliance and promote the adoption of DEIA strategies to support the equitable expansion of RA.
  • Provide support and subject matter expertise in the development of campaigns to support discrimination-free and harassment-free work environments to include sector and industry-specific challenges.
  • Illustrate concepts by designing examples of art arrangement, size, type size, style, and submit them for approval.
  • Prepare rough drafts and present ideas to the team.
  • Amend designs after feedback. Review final layouts and suggest improvements.
  • Ensure final graphics and layouts are visually appealing and compliant with requirements.
Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in graphic design or a related field.
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Portfolio demonstrating experience producing high quality graphic design deliverables within 30 days of contract award prior to working on project.
  • Proven graphic design experience.
  • Proficiency with and access to needed desktop publishing tools.
  • A strong eye for visual composition.
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Able to give and receive constructive criticism.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Understanding of marketing, production, website design, corporate identity, product packaging, advertisements, and multimedia design.
  • Experience with computer-aided design.
  • Ability to travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience providing graphics for USG contractors and/or clients.
  • An extensive graphic design portfolio demonstrating experience and skill.
