LMI is seeking a Data Architect (Senior) to work at a client location at Fort Belvoir, VA. Remote teleworking is allowed.

Responsibilities

The Data Architect will support the design of data platforms for various Army customers. Responsibilities will include:

    Create and review Data Architectural Diagrams for a data platform
  • Ability to create and understand data architecture that is consistent with guidance outlined in the Department of Defense Architectural Framework (DoDAF).
  • Create and optimize data models for appropriate data infrastructure and workflow. Oversee the development of designed data models including GFM-DI data compliant.
  • Design strategies and oversee implementation of databases, data-centric, distributed architecture and Cloud Infrastructure network.
  • Model and design multiple relational databases or data warehouses, and oversee the construction.
  • Propose alternative designs and processes to manage various types of data using both standard and custom tables and fields.
  • Ability to design a data architecture that supports an enterprise data mesh, data fabric, and Unified Data Reference Architecture concepts/principles
  • Support the development and oversight of System Interface Agreements (SIAs).
  • Provide guidance and oversee the creation and management of metadata and data catalogs.
  • Establish and oversee standards needed for database operations, programming, query processes and data security.
  • Support project management over data architecture activities to ensure timely delivery in a reactive and agile environment.
  • Review and assess data architecture-related technical deliverables, such as data flow diagrams and data models.
  • Review data architecture -related technical sprint activities against requirements and acceptance criteria of user stories.
  • Engage with technical and functional program subject matter experts (SMEs) and key data stakeholders to understand business processes, data requirements, key data elements, data mappings, data protection guidelines, etc.
  • Provide support in driving the resolution of data issues that are identified throughout daily stand-ups, demos, deployment of code to various environments, user testing, etc.
  • Lead data architecture-related technical working sessions with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Research, analyze, and document various technical approaches (including implementation, benefits, constraints, outcomes, and any associated risks).
  • Develop briefing packages to communicate complex ideas to non-technical customers.
  • Provide recommendations for improvements in data strategies
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in data, engineering, mathematics, statistics, economics, computer science, engineering, or other related business or quantitative discipline required.
  • Master's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Active DoD Secret clearance required. Must have at a minimum, an Interim Secret Clearance.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in data management operations of an information technology enterprise/large application or data platform
  • Skilled in process design, development of process flow models and schematics, definition of process elements, and development of business process documentation, skilled in the use of DoDAF diagram modeling tools, and development of external system interfaces.
  • Experience in enterprise database, data-centric enterprise system design, and multidimensional network.
  • Familiarity with a variety of database types and implementations
  • Experience with AWS products
  • Experience with containerization
  • Innovative problem solving and root cause identification skills.
  • Superior communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Able to work effectively at all levels of an organization.
  • Must be a team player and able to work with and through others.
  • Ability to influence and align others and move toward a common vision or goal.

Desired:

  • Experience with data mesh and data fabric principles and implementations
  • Experience with GFMDI
