Position Description

Position Summary:

The Communications and Outreach Coordinator supports the Director of Development and Communications. S/he will be responsible for all aspects of communications including social media and outreach; develop, design, write and produce content for electronic/print communications (all collateral, press releases, blogs, and etc); coordinate all aspects of event preparation and execution; and assist with media and external relations. 

Responsibilities:
  • Create, write and edit all communications collateral;
  • Manage the website, update Facebook account, keep abreast of social networking tools and trends, use social media to promote the organization by developing an on-line presence with responsibility for web content, updates and site maintenance, blogs, and all related social media activities using social media tools;
  • Identify key opportunities to reach out to online constituents/donors and integrate online activities with social media, organizational initiatives, and print publications.
  • Design and produce organizational materials and all other communication/collateral resources (i.e., newsletters, brochure, invitations, promotional and informational materials);
  • Manage develop and implement communication and marketing strategies to support sustainable giving;
  • Develop and manage all fundraising events;
  • Represent the organization professionally at outreach events;
  • Other tasks as assigned
     
 Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; preferably in Communications, English or related field;
  • At least 5 years of experience; minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in the field of development and communications with a nonprofit organization or related for-profit company;
  • Experience using InDesign and Photoshop
  • Experience with Google Analytics
  • Experience in online marketing strategy
  • Experience using Etapestry
  • Strong time management, task execution, organizational, interpersonal, presentation and writing skills imperative.
  • Must be creative, technically savvy, self-motivated
  • Must have excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office and Internet) and comfort working with database programs;
  • Ability to work within a team structure as well as independently, be attentive to detail and possess excellent interpersonal communication skills; and,
  • Must possess a sincere compassion for issues concerning homelessness, addiction and social justice.
  • Experience in event planning
