Position Summary
Responsible for building and managing a team of IP engineers and NBB/DVB Platform engineers to ensure uninterrupted availability of critical network infrastructure for the Intelsat Managed Services network. The incumbent will provide the leadership and expertise necessary to align Intelsat business drivers and technical solutions to drive current and future revenue generating products and services, as well as the support required to maintain Intelsat's technical competitive position. In addition, this individual will be responsible for the development of engineering philosophies and design methodologies and for providing functional policy and directions. Minimum Requirements
Must have a Bachelor's Degree in an applicable field of study, with at least seven years of applicable experience and hands-on experience in high-impact issue resolution, infrastructure deployment and personnel management.
Must have a comprehensive knowledge of networking, data communications and systems engineering, with additional understanding of and experience in multi-service IP networks, data network strategies, multi vendor equipment and network protocols.
Must have extensive knowledge of and experience with
and engineering:
Creating robust network, product/service and system design and implementation strategies;
Designing, implementing and operating network architecture for a Service Provider Network;
iDirect, Allot, Serial and Ethernet Sat Modem, DVB-S and DVB-S2 systems;
Routing protocols like MPLS (traffic engineering, L2/L3 VPN), MBGP/BGP-4, ISIS, OSPF/OSPFv3, RSVP, LDP, EIGRP, IGRP, RIP-1/2, MSDP, PIM-DM/SM, CGMP, IGMP, WWCP, etc;
LAN technologies like 802.XX, Gigabit Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Vlan/Trunking (802.1q And ISL), Etherchannel, Wireless, Spanning Tree (STP), HSRP, VRRP;
Designing and deploying IP-Based Satellite Platforms and Hubs, including iDirect Technologies;
Network security integration and network device hardening.
Familiarity with RF (C Band, Ku band), IF, L-Band and RF system block diagrams required.
Must have experience in leading and managing complex inter-networking solutions from design to implementation with keen attention to CapEx, OpEx and ROI.
Must have experience with preparing, negotiating, and managing external contracts and engagements.
Must have experience managing, leading, and developing a team of networking professionals, and developing inter-organizational relationships.
